Delaware
Urban Front Yard
Modern lines, a minimalist planting scheme and flashes of restrained colour gave this elegant Edwardian home fresh appeal. Grass block pavers planted with flowering creeping thyme can become a parking spot in a pinch. A cutout in the pavers makes way for a surprising bit of lushness courtesy of a tall European beech hedge that also provides privacy to the back. Classic elements such as the Eramosa limestone walkway, retaining wall and evergreen yew hedge compliment the architecture while maintaining the garden’s simple, modern feeling. In homage to the owners’ favourite colour, Japanese anemones, flowering dogwoods and the creeping thyme bloom in subtle shades of pink throughout the seasons.
